Designer Interview of Mitra Mohebbi:
DI: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
MM : I have been passionate about drawing, painting and music since I was a child, so I took art classes and always had a great desire to learn. I continued this path until I was able to become a first level instructor of a technical and professional organization in the field of design and painting in Iran and I have ten years of teaching experience. Also, in the field of music, I am an Iranian setar player. Art is the flow of life for me An artist has a strong and aesthetic vision because he looks at the world around him with finesse and detail; the world is an open book for the artist; the artist has a gentle and calm spirit, because the miracle of art penetrates his heart and makes him a better human being. It has been a year since I started to design in the field of industrial design and architecture, and in this short opportunity I was able to win two prestigious international competitions, as well as a top design nominee from Germany and Canada, and a green design nominee from Berlin, Germany. And finalist for the best architectural design. Teamwork is always a priority for me; teamwork is energizing; it feels great when people with different tastes try to achieve group goals and celebrate their success together
DI: What is "design" for you?
MM : The design is a collection of pleasant emotions for me, it gives me a wonderful feeling of relaxation Design is like the flow of life to me
DI: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
MM : I like to come up with ideas in different fields Furniture, chandeliers, gadgets and architecture My ideas are not related to a specific field I want to draw whatever comes to my mind on paper He himself tells me what he can become.
DI: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
MM : I like all my ideas Because I tried for them, I thought about them for hours
DI: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
MM : Furniture
DI: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
MM : I am always interested in idea generation and design of the future
DI: When do you feel the most creative?
MM : When something new and innovative comes to my mind The idea that solves people's problems and makes people's lives better.
DI: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
MM : Being new / beautiful / low cost / solving people's problems / being creative
DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
MM : Every project always has the potential to get better.
DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
MM : Happiness / usefulness / continuing / being determined / getting better in the next steps And that after the project is over, I tell myself it was hard, but it was done in the best way
DI: What makes a design successful?
MM : Endurance / Stability along the way / Always be persistent and never stop / Look carefully at the world around you / Consider people's problems even small problems and come up with ideas to solve them / Pay attention to the signs of God in nature / Always research and be informed / Be aware of new technologies.
DI: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
MM : If it's good, I'm wondering why this idea did not cross my mind It's a great idea, well done to them If it is bad, I will try to correct it in my mind.
DI: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
MM : A designer must keep in mind that all aspects of the design are for the welfare of the people, to strive to improve the lives of the people, to solve environmental problems, for the connection and friendship between man and nature. Strive for a more beautiful future for the children of tomorrow and the earth, which is the only abode of human beings.
DI: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
MM : Design in all fields is progressing at a very high speed Thousands of new designs come to market every day; innovation and creativity increase with the advancement of science and competition becomes tougher.
DI: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
MM : I am a bionic designer and most of the inspiration for my designs is from the signs of God in nature.
DI: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
MM : Bionic design Nature always surprises us and I love getting ideas from nature.
DI: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
MM : I live in Iran Iran is a country with a culture and civilization of several thousand years Iran has beautiful cities and extraordinary nature My country has very beautiful historical monuments Iran is a country with original arts, from carpets to turquoise domes , The name of my country is engraved in the heart of history, civilization and culture I am proud to be an Aryan and I was born in a country that is full of color and beauty.Iranians are mostly genetically artists and have a great interest in art They have a lot of works of art and handicrafts in their homes Their houses are like cultural and art museums This also applies to me and is very influential in the way I design.
DI: How do you work with companies?
MM : On a contract basis.
DI: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
MM : Companies should not be afraid to take risks; young designers can also be very strong and serve the interests of the company. Companies should trust talented young people and give them space to develop their talent.
DI: Can you talk a little about your design process?
MM : I took ideation classes a year ago; our teacher asked us to draw an idea on paper using the techniques we learned in class; anyone could come up with an idea in any field, I chose the furniture category And quite by chance I remembered a creature in nature called a woodlouse; I felt that a woodlouse, despite its appearance, could be a beautiful and comfortable piece of furniture, and then I started sketching. When I showed the design to my teacher, my teacher said it had the potential to win several international awards I also participated in a design competition for the first time and fortunately I succeeded.
DI: What are 5 of your favorite design items at home?
MM : My magic items are pencil and paper
DI: Can you describe a day in your life?
MM : Most of my time during the day is spent teaching in drawing classes; and sketching and brainstorming
DI: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?
MM : Never give up People succeed in their lives who are very, very interested in their work If you are interested in design Failure does not mean anything to you These are not slogans A fact If you want to succeed, you must love the card with all your being and give it time to grow and flourish. Finally, one day it will be your turn Do not give up after the effort and continue with strength.
DI: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
MM : Pros of a designer: Always keep in mind that there are a lot of ideas that no one has come up with yet; maybe you are the first one And try to make people's lives better Think of all human beings from all walks of life And strive for their well-being Cons: Copy Never copy, because you will be second-hand You have to be yourself to be unique.

DI: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?
MM : Design is not time consuming I have a problem with this question Designing a second job should not be A designer should be just a designer and his main job is design and he should be interested in his work. When you are interested in cards, you will not notice the passage of time.
DI: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?
MM : Maybe I think for days or months in my mind to make it better But for sketching ten minutes to a quarter

MM : I would like to have our own company and brand with the cooperation of my sister, who is also a designer An international company named after two sisters I want this company to be the number one in the world
DI: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?
MM : We humans live in a community and are not separated So teamwork is always my priority The pleasure of teamwork and learning on the path to progress is much more than individual work Always work in a team
DI: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about?
MM : We have an architectural project called Crassula that we just published and it is going to be sold in Metavars And hundreds of other interesting ideas that are not going to be just on paper and will be implemented in the hope of God
