Architect show Co., Ltd is the Japanese architectural firm in Fukuoka city; founded by architect Masahiko Sato in 1985. The firm has completed numerous projects ranges from residential, hotels, malls, clinics and office projects in and outside of Fukuoka city. The most significant of which is residential projects and appreciated its work by national and various international awards. The significant feature of Architect show is that it provides sophisticated wooden design and choice of variety of materials that resembles concrete building, which is not common in Japan.

DI: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?

MS : I did not have related educational background in architecture so a started studying architecture by myself and from people that have proper knowledge.

DI: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?

MS : We are a small scale firm with 5 staff based in Fukuoka City Japan

DI: What is "design" for you?

MS : A way to shape society and something i love to do

DI: What kinds of works do you like designing most?

MS : Anything we love to design anything especially house

DI: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?

MS : Ando Tadao, he is kind a figure that i admire for a very long time

DI: What was the first thing you designed for a company?

MS : I think its a house

DI: When do you feel the most creative?

MS : I dont know thats difficult question

DI: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?

MS : Practical use of the design

DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?

MS : I always try to position myself as a future user of the end product.

DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?

MS : Sometime feel satisfied sometime feel i could have done better

DI: What makes a design successful?

MS : The satisfaction of its inhabitant an how it change society to better future

DI: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?

MS : Practical use and efficiency of the design

DI: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?

MS : To give a proper example on how human should give consideration to the environment

DI: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?

MS : Design in the future will be absolutely more mesmerizing, more playful and reflect the lifestyle of modern civilization

DI: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?

MS : Germany February this year

DI: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?

MS : To constantly check on the evolving design industry

DI: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?

MS : My design is simple

DI: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?

DI: How do you work with companies?

MS : I work with several companies

DI: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?

MS : Find one that have enough experience

DI: What are 5 of your favorite design items at home?

MS : Never thought of it

DI: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?

MS : When it comes to design precision comes first speed come second. Sometimes we are chased

DI: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?

MS : I dont think there are negatives of being designer, everyone is designer of their life

DI: What is your "golden rule" in design?

MS : I dont have one

DI: What skills are most important for a designer?

MS : good judgement

DI: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?

DI: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?

MS : I dont do anything else beside design

DI: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?

MS : About 3-4months

DI: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer?

MS : where the inspiration come from

DI: What was your most important job experience?

MS : Every experience has important value to my life, there are so many of them, and they are equally precious to me.

DI: Who are some of your clients?

MS : Mostly Doctors (physician)

DI: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?

MS : i enjoy any kind of design work

DI: What are your future plans? What is next for you?

MS : We try to expand business abroad, always looking forward for a new challange from a new client in somewhere we have never been.

DI: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?

MS : I design it by myself and make the team do the rest

DI: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about?

MS : We cant exposed details on on going project
