DI: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
JAH : I have always been inspired by the fusion of functionality and beauty in spaces. My background is rooted in architecture, blending creativity with practical solutions to craft meaningful environments.
DI: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
JAH : JYH International Architects is a dynamic firm specializing in innovative and personalized architectural solutions, aiming to transform visions into extraordinary built environments.
DI: What is "design" for you?
JAH : Design is the art of transforming dreams into reality while balancing aesthetics, functionality, and the soul of a space.
DI: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
JAH : I enjoy creating spaces that tell a story—dream homes and iconic projects that inspire and elevate the human experience.
DI: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
JAH : My favorite project is often the one I’m working on, as each brings unique challenges and inspiration. One standout is "Villa Olympea," which harmonizes luxury and nature.
DI: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
JAH : My first company design was a residential villa that laid the foundation for my commitment to blending creativity with client aspirations.
DI: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
JAH : I am fascinated by materials that merge sustainability with beauty, like wood and smart composites, alongside cutting-edge software like BIM for precision.
DI: When do you feel the most creative?
JAH : Creativity strikes during moments of quiet reflection or collaboration, where ideas flow freely.
DI: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
JAH : I prioritize the connection between space and its users, ensuring functionality and emotional resonance.
DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
JAH : Designing is a process of joy, curiosity, and sometimes tension, as ideas evolve into reality.
DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
JAH : Seeing designs come to life fills me with pride and satisfaction, knowing they positively impact others.
DI: What makes a design successful?
JAH : Success lies in balancing aesthetic appeal, functionality, and the client’s vision.
DI: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
JAH : I evaluate its harmony, practicality, and the story it conveys.
DI: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
JAH : Designers should create spaces that respect cultural and environmental contexts, promoting sustainability and well-being.
DI: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
JAH : The future of design integrates technology, sustainability, and human-centered approaches to address global challenges.
DI: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?
JAH : I focus more on client-specific projects but am open to exhibitions showcasing innovative architectural solutions.
DI: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
JAH : Inspiration comes from nature, art, and human interactions. Traveling and engaging with diverse cultures also fuels creativity.
DI: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
JAH : My style balances elegance with functionality, rooted in a contemporary aesthetic that adapts to clients’ needs.
DI: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
JAH : Yes, Spain and Lebanon's rich cultural tapestry influences my approach, blending tradition with innovation.
DI: How do you work with companies?
JAH : I foster collaborative relationships, tailoring designs to align with their goals and vision.
DI: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
JAH : Choose a designer who understands your vision and maintains open communication throughout the process.
DI: Can you talk a little about your design process?
JAH : It begins with understanding and studying the client’s needs, followed by conceptualizing, refining, and delivering his dream product.
DI: What are 5 of your favorite design items at home?
JAH : I truly admire artistic pieces, such as bespoke lighting and handpicked furniture.
DI: Can you describe a day in your life?
JAH : My day involves client consultations, design refinement, and moments of creative brainstorming.
DI: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?
JAH : Embrace learning, stay adaptable, and let your passion drive your journey.
DI: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
JAH : The positives are too vast to list—design allows freedom of thought, creativity, and the joy of creating something impactful. There are no real negatives in art because our role is to dream and bring visions to life. Engineers handle practical constraints, which might carry more challenges.
DI: What is your "golden rule" in design?
JAH : Always design with empathy for the end user.
DI: What skills are most important for a designer?
JAH : Creativity, communication, and technical proficiency are key.
DI: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?
JAH : Tools like AutoCAD, BIM software, and physical models are integral to my process.
DI: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?
JAH : By setting clear priorities and milestones for each project.
DI: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?
JAH : It depends on the project's scope. Small interiors might take a month to design and submit, while masterplans for cities can require several months of meticulous work.
DI: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer?
JAH : Clients often ask, “Will my project be as beautiful as your previous work?” This humbling question reinforces the trust they place in us to deliver excellence.
DI: What was your most important job experience?
JAH : Leading projects that challenge and expand my creative boundaries has been invaluable.
DI: Who are some of your clients?
JAH : My clients range from private homeowners to developers and international firms.
DI: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?
JAH : Villas are my favorite because they allow greater creative freedom with fewer constraints, and I get to guide clients through a beautiful journey until they inhabit their dream home.
DI: What are your future plans? What is next for you?
JAH : Expanding JYH International Architects and exploring innovative projects that redefine living and working spaces.
DI: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?
JAH : I am deeply involved in the design phase, ensuring the highest standards for each project. The team then contributes their expertise, enriching the process.
DI: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about?
JAH : While client confidentiality prevents me from sharing details, we are working on a breathtaking project on a beautiful island, which will be a true masterpiece.
