Designer Interview of Shenzhen Shenwenjiao Design Co., Ltd.:
DI: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
SSDCL : I have loved painting since childhood and expressed my thoughts with a paintbrush. I was enlightened by an art teacher in middle school and embarked on the road of industrial designer. Finally, I graduated from Guangdong Light Industry Vocational and Technical College in 2013 with a product modeling major. Learned to "think by hand"!
DI: What is "design" for you?
SSDCL : Design focuses on the relationship between formal and informal. The beauty of design lies in its constant change and transfer.
DI: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
SSDCL : Under the guidance of teacher Shen Wenjiao, he led the team to design a set of seven Tiangong series kitchen appliances for Guangdong Wanjiale Gas Appliance Co., Ltd., and won the 2019 German Red Dot Concept Award Supreme Award and the China Red Star Award.
DI: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
SSDCL : In the design process, I like the survey step most, which allows you to discover more things or problems, pain points, etc. that you do n’t usually think of, or do n’t see, this step can lay the foundation for the subsequent design, let Your design is better.
DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
SSDCL : Excited, just like my child was born, so we all call our designs children.
DI: What makes a design successful?
SSDCL : Persevere, good at discovering beauty.
DI: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
SSDCL : Practicality, whether to solve a certain problem, and then beautiful.
DI: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
SSDCL : As we all know, society is the soil for the growth of design art, and design art that breaks away from society cannot finally go on. Therefore, for every designer, social responsibility is a necessary quality. In the history of modern design, the "planned commodity abolition" that was once popular in the United States was eventually eliminated. Such a result is inevitable. This is more or less related to the neglect of social responsibility in this system. On the contrary, the green design that we advocate now is a reflection of the above systems and phenomena, and it is also a manifestation of more designers' emphasis on social responsibility. A member of Mephis once said something seemingly interesting: “I do n’t care about people who have cars and houses, because they have everything, and everything can be solved by buying. I care about those who live in the poor Districts, the conditions of people whose quality of life is in urgent need of improvement. "
DI: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
SSDCL : Who knows, is artificial intelligence? Artificial can only need beauty, haha
DI: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
SSDCL : Before leaving the computer, feel the life. Inspired by life, sweat, sports, sex, Philip Stark said so, I really like his design thinking and works.
DI: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
SSDCL : In China, this design is developing very quickly. Our manufacturing industry is strong. There are a lot of talents, so some designers like to embark on plagiarism for business. This is a headache for original designers.
DI: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
SSDCL : No matter the position, you need to communicate with each other and absorb each other's suggestions. When I set up a team, I like to look for people with characteristics. This will enrich the team.
DI: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?
SSDCL : Before leaving the computer, feel the life, touch and feel the things or things you like with your hands.
DI: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer?
SSDCL : Why, why is this ...
DI: What are your future plans? What is next for you?
SSDCL : Continue to do design, do design in life, I like to use my own design ...
DI: How can people contact you?
