We, as the Designer Interviews ("DI") had the distinct pleasure and opportunity to interview award-winning, most creative and innovative Alexandre Kasper ("AK").
I am a new designer on the market, only 26 years old, but I already contribute a lot in architectural projects and product development, I am one of the few Brazilian designers who know how to operate a 6 axis machine, due to this wisdom my industrial development process part of the exploitation of a machine to the maximum, I want to contribute to the exploitation of these factors for each time the Brazilian product is more complex and has more name in the world market

Designer Interview of Alexandre Kasper:
DI: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
AK : I always liked to create things, when I was a kid I drew pokemon, in my teens, I drew tennis shoes and created stories, I was always connected with that idea
DI: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
AK : I work alone as a designer, but I have 3 employees working in the engineering and marketing sector
DI: What is "design" for you?
AK : for me, the design has to be expressive, in some way to make sense and develop the user's sensory side.
DI: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
AK : I don't have a preference, I like it when what I'm drawing ties me up in a way that makes me think about him every day.
DI: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
AK : the carioca line and the vani line, which I designed for the 2021 launch of CGS Móveis. Both have different inspirations, but similar conclusions, linearizing my sense of designer.
DI: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
AK : wood / instagram / 5 axis machines
DI: When do you feel the most creative?
AK : when I sleep, I enter a state of pure silicon and my knowledge and observation stand out
DI: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
AK : everything, I try to pay attention to all the details
DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
AK : I don’t know how to explain it very well, but it’s like I’m raising a child, so I must give him great love
DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
AK : duty accomplished
DI: What makes a design successful?
AK : feeling, when we create something with the purest and most sincere emotional attachment, it is reflected in the commercial field.
DI: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
AK : the purpose of the product, with the intention of creating it, and the time it took to create.
DI: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
AK : all, we must be concerned and reflect this in our design, we are the bridge of the final product to the society that enjoys
DI: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
AK : I believe that more and more niches will be made, with innovative products and never thought of today.
DI: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?
AK : it was Abimad that happened February 2020 in São Paulo, the next one I want to do this year.
DI: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
AK : architecture and nature have always inspired me, but I like to look at great names in humanity and feed on their knowledge.
DI: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?

DI: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
AK : certainly, the great quality of living in Brazil is the cultural diversity that we have here, this is a source of great inspiration for anyone who works with creation. it has no negative points.
DI: How do you work with companies?
AK : developing exclusive lines, on-line marketing, curatorship
DI: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
AK : observing their concern with the design created. what ties the designer to the factory is the product created, so part of it gives all the observations made by the factory, look at the care and attention that the designer has with his design.
DI: Can you talk a little about your design process?
AK : I think about design 24 hours a day, for everything I look at I see design and having to understand why every thing created, be it architecture, fauna, flora, design, people ... so that reflects my way of thinking, and when I I stop in pure silence, like sleeping or meditating, the information fits in my mind giving me rational ideas and ways to start a design.
DI: What are 5 of your favorite design items at home?
AK : Armchair, desk, refrigerator, coffee maker, and speaker.
DI: Can you describe a day in your life?
AK : I wake up at 6 am, take a hot shower, make a coffee and start reading a book, at 7:30 am I go to the office and the factory, I walk around the factory to see how the sector works, I go back to the office, and I start thinking about products, left for lunch at 12pm, eat and read again, at 1:30 pm I go back to the office where I keep drawing, if I have any programming doubts I go to the factory to study the product's rationality, left the office at 6 pm or 7 pm, I go to the gym, come home for dinner, and study Spanish, later I go back to reading some more and meditating, then I go to sleep.
DI: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?
AK : as common as that phrase seems to be, never give up on your dreams, only you know the value of them.
DI: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
AK : use your mind to develop experiences, I believe that there is no negative point, when you give yourself to what you love, work becomes pleasurable
DI: What is your "golden rule" in design?
AK : aesthetics, function, ergonomics and rationality.
DI: What skills are most important for a designer?
AK : observation and listening.
DI: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?
AK : 3d max, lumion, alphacam, solidworks, I like to read biogrtafia books of the great minds, and to read economics books, and of course architecture and design books
DI: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?
AK : organize my thoughts, focus when needed
DI: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?
AK : 1 to 2 years, with design and final product

AK : today I am linked as a designer only with CGS Móveis.
DI: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?
AK : I don't have a preference, I like to do everything that generates me emotionally excited.
DI: What are your future plans? What is next for you?
AK : I want to draw more exclusive lines, and work in the architecture sector
DI: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?
AK : I create my projects on my own, but an engineering team supports machinery.
DI: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about?
AK : dining table that I am developing, where I use the entire system of joints in wood, the idea is not to use screws.
