Designer Interview of Grégoire Gurtner:
DI: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
GG : During my first professional experiences, the search for solutions and the study of details always attracted me. After several years dedicated to construction, and serving others, I decided to give myself the chance to realize my own projects.
DI: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
GG : My company stands out for listening and the diversity of professional knowledge acquired during my career. The team is small, which allows direct and reassuring communication for the customer.
DI: What is "design" for you?
GG : For me, design must combine aesthetics and functionality. One cannot go without the other for a successful project.
DI: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
GG : Interior design is a big part of my preferences, but I'm always drawn to projects that are out of the ordinary, regardless of the field, which gives more interest to research.
DI: When do you feel the most creative?
GG : During car rides, I manage to free my mind.
DI: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
GG : Its sense of existence, its usefulness. If it does not make sense, but only aesthetics, it is missed
DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
GG : Many emotions are felt, excitement, satisfaction, but also frustration at times
DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
GG : It is a pride to have been able to lead a project to its completion. If it manages to exist, it is already a first victory.
DI: What makes a design successful?
GG : If it provides curiosity and satisfaction
DI: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
GG : He must attract attention and arouse curiosity, which proves that he stands out from the rest. Then, always the balance between its functionality and its aesthetics.
