Designer Interview of Rob Langendijk:

DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?

RL : This depends on what stage in the design process the project is at and what hurdles must be overcome along the way. Usually excitment and enthusiam is generally felt at the begining of the project, however along the way feelings of frustration can occur due to hurdles or roadblocks. Ultimately when a project is realised, it only brings positive emotions.

DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?

RL : For any designer, a feeling of accomplishment is obvious. Joy, pride and excitment are other emotions that come to mind when a project is realised.

DI: What makes a design successful?

RL : In my point of view, a successful design must satisfy a number of different criteria. Firstly it must be innovative in some way so that it adds value to the user or society. The design must also be functional and effective in achieving its purpose it was designed for. Attention to detail is also another criteria for a successful design as well as being user oriented. If people find it difficult to use, the liklihood of it being widely accepted is less. Successful designs must also be aesthetically appealing because for products to be used on an everyday basis, it must have a positive effect on the poeple using it.

DI: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?

RL : At miscea, we work with a team to develop our ideas. We gain feedback from the market through our sales and marketing team and work with a team of dedicated designers and engineers to develop new products.

DI: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about?

RL : There are a number of projects in the pipeline which are due to be launched in the early half of 2015. These products will be for the kitchen and bathroom market.

DI: How can people contact you?

RL : miscea can be contacted by email at info@miscea.com, or by telephone on +49 33701 3553-0
