We, as the Designer Interviews ("DI") had the distinct pleasure and opportunity to interview award-winning, most creative and innovative In-hwan, Hwang ("IH").
Tail yard design shows its features, related to nature, especially ocean. Wave images, whale tails, ships, sea organism, and etc, all things from ocean influence its design. Its design which starts from the motif become various with modular design and multiple matrial applications, taking advantages of its characteristics such as leather, metal, and wood. Its design is receiving good reputations from the exhibitions due to it's distinctive design.

Designer Interview of In-hwan, Hwang:
DI: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
IH : I prefer the products, motivated from nature. And design it with various natural materials, such as leather, steel, brass, wood, etc.
DI: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
IH : CVN-68, it was designed with the image of CVN series(aircraft carrier). With curved ouline, this table is ergonomic for using. It is vey fitted to our motto, "Function + Art"
DI: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
IH : My favorite material is metal. Steel, stainless, brass, each metal has its unique charater. And its common features, refraction and masculine, fascinate me.
DI: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
IH : The design starts with free design sketches with various curves. I focus on showing this aspects in products within the boundary of keeping the basic functions of furniture.
DI: What makes a design successful?
IH : I think when a design enables customers beyond what they expected. It is successful design.
DI: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
IH : Responsibilities of a designer is to suggest direction to manufacturer for effective or new design.
DI: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?
IH : My last exhibition was held in Gwangju biennale in Gwangju, South Korea. I have plans to have it overseas.
DI: What was your most important job experience?
IH : I have been working in Cruise interior design company, Vehicle design company. I think all experience I have had is helpful to work and design.
