Huberto Aldaz & Oriente Aldaz, architects and designers, are two brothers who share a profound taste for the fine arts. Born in Madrid, they are recognized for their tailor made furniture creations, interir desing and architecture . They declare themselves as lovers of the Japanese and Swiss architecture, which brought them the inspiration for their collections. They are specialized in architectural geometry furniture in which using the scale and creativity, they find the perfect harmony between function, shape and structure.

Designer Interview of dazhaus:

DI: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?

Dazhaus : My base in the world of art comes from my training in architecture, like any good artist has to have extensive training in the fine arts. I believe that an artist is not converted but was born and I think that was my case. I always wanted to be a designer but focus on the architecture always stayed in second place and the crisis gave me this oportunidad.

DI: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?

Dazhaus : The dazhaus furniture brand began in 2011 under my sister and I Oriente . In 2014 we decided to mount the study of architecture and furniture with society dazhaus slp . It is a company registered in Madrid, Spain .

DI: What is "design" for you?

Dazhaus : The design for me is to make consumers an experience (artistic , cultural , sensory )

DI: What kinds of works do you like designing most?

Dazhaus : First I like good design , then we would enter tastes but the bottom is a good design with good finishes and influence of great artists in history.

DI: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?

Dazhaus : My favorite design is the furniture that present titled Scale 1/100 that reinterprets the essence of everything learned . If I have to talk about other artists stay with Bauhaus designs or Chicago skyscrapers of early twentieth centuries

DI: What was the first thing you designed for a company?

Dazhaus : While preparing this collection , people watching and other prototypes before presenting it and we commissioned furniture that were in the direction of our furniture. The first were two black tables outside.

DI: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?

Dazhaus : My favorite materials are Steel, Wood and Concrete . I love working at first with models and then we enter the computer design .

DI: When do you feel the most creative?

Dazhaus : I feel more creative when I design evening but especially in Menorca ( Balearic Islands) overlooking the sea

DI: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?

Dazhaus : Proportion , purity and finishes.

DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?

Dazhaus : The design makes you forget the outside world and focus on the essence of art

DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?

Dazhaus : On the one hand I feel satisfaction with the work achieved but like any artist always think it can still be improved

DI: What makes a design successful?

Dazhaus : A design is successful if it is beautiful , works well and its design will be good over the years.

DI: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?

Dazhaus : The first one is that it is good design, this well finished , and taking into account the history of design . Because to make a design that go down in history must know very well the story.

DI: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?

Dazhaus : Artists, designers are culture and culture is the first outbreak in society so we have to lead by example is fixed .

DI: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?

Dazhaus : The design is in a golden age, in the past as the Bauhaus , or expressionism design was for a few. Today everyone wants to design now our responsibility to educate them it is a good design.

DI: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?

Dazhaus : The Expo last was in Vigo ( a city of Spain ) . Our next exhibition we wish it were in Switzerland.

DI: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?

Dazhaus : For my work I have a great inspiration in the Swiss and Japanese architecture. My inspiration is fed traveling a lot around the world. My inspiration is the architecture in many cases.

DI: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?

Dazhaus : I would describe it as an architectural style based on various styles , Bauhaus , rationalism , modernism.

DI: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?

Dazhaus : I live in Madrid, Spain . If I think Madrid is a city rich in culture and perhaps the best museums in the world of which I often go for inspiration ( Reina Sofia Museum, Prado Museum and Thyssen Museum) . The pros is that Spain is a country of artists and entrepreneurs, against the crisis with no customers . And indeed the most important thing for an artist is a good customer.

DI: How do you work with companies?

Dazhaus : We work with companies or special normally or if you want furniture from our collection orders.

DI: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?

Dazhaus : I think working as a freelancer for a company is the best as percentage of selling designs . A company to select a good designer I recommend you look at Spain which is full of good designers out of work and wanting to work.

DI: Can you talk a little about your design process?

Dazhaus : Our design process is first feed much art all day, then get to do corquis and models with an open mind . After designing with computer and then we get into manufactures make the first prototypes.

DI: Can you describe a day in your life?

Dazhaus : A day in my life , I get up and go to the office of my architecture studio with my sister . In the mornings I am dedicated to designing and making that work out to the front. A lunchtime to see clients and afternoon to more artistic themes. And after work I like to visit exhibitions to always be current . That if I do not travel that is my greatest passion

DI: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?

Dazhaus : I am a young designer in truth even with long experience but my colleagues would say that the most important thing is to know the history of design in order to provide more and then not think that will be the first design that wins but the first step of your great design

DI: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?

Dazhaus : Positive Aspects That If you enjoy This is a great Cause not need anything else in life. The downside is that if you want to get rich banker yourself.

DI: What is your "golden rule" in design?

Dazhaus : Designs that which you enjoy and do not think it is best to sell and when you sell.

DI: What skills are most important for a designer?

Dazhaus : The most important skill is to have a good background in art .

DI: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?

Dazhaus : Always a drawing table , a computer with Photoshop , Autocad and Solid Works and materials to make models . I use inspirational magazine " Croquis " Architecture and books on architecture and art.

DI: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?

Dazhaus : Projects carried all the time , it's a lifestyle . Because even when I travel I'm projecting my notebooks or reading.

DI: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?

Dazhaus : Much depends on whether the customer will require some time. As I mentioned in the case of this project has been around a year and I could have that time due to the crisis. Of a bad situation came out a virtue.

DI: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer?

Dazhaus : This seems difficult to implement , you had some friction with developers?

DI: What was your most important job experience?

Dazhaus : Reforming the trendiest restaurant in Madrid. And in my training work with the Aedes Gallery Berlin.

DI: Who are some of your clients?

Dazhaus : In architecture the Spanish state, nexpresso , hotel chains and restaurants. In furniture stores Davila and shipping.

DI: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?

Dazhaus : The work that I enjoy the most is designing furniture because they have managed to unite architecture, sculpture and furniture. And work lights and leftovers that fascinates me . And I can get top quality finishes thing in the works of architecture have never had a client who is left I enjoy it because of the high cost involved in building.

DI: What are your future plans? What is next for you?

Dazhaus : For me I'm not going to lie my plans are to look good in this contest and power through it to enter the Swiss market. Go asking me as a furniture designer name.

DI: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?

Dazhaus : Working with my sister who has extensive experience in furniture and after living four years in Switzerland grew much as a designer.

DI: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about?

Dazhaus : In furniture I am very focused on the launch of this model and what we're Architecture refers to one of the most emblematic places in Madrid 50s called Commodore.
