We, as the Designer Interviews ("DI") had the distinct pleasure and opportunity to interview award-winning, most creative and innovative Naoyuki Fukumoto ("NF").
In the mid-1990s, he has been working on the interface design in the website and digital fields since the early days when the Internet began to spread in Japan. In recent years he has also worked on graphic design on analog media such as posters, brochures and flyers. Unlike general designers, we succeeded in expanding the field from the digital field to the analog field. Besides managing the design company, he is working as a part-time instructor at vocational schools and vocational training schools.

Designer Interview of Naoyuki Fukumoto:
DI: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
NF : I was pursuing art since junior high school days. The first university majored in the course of oil painting and in the second university majoring in the arts science, I got tired of the old-fashioned educational system and both dropped out. Also, as I met the Internet in my school days, I began with the direction to design the web site itself, expressing there, expressing the photographs that I was taking, and starting my career first in the digital field .
DI: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
NF : I run a design studio on an individual basis. Some listed companies and companies with histories have companies that can not trade unless they are legal personnel, and they make it a corporate entity from the necessity (although there are many troublesome things in terms of taxation) Photographers, writers, designers, etc. Working with the outside staff in cooperation.
DI: What is "design" for you?
NF : I think that "Neccesity" and "Beauty (art)" are in harmony.
DI: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
NF : Graphic design, art direction of website and so on. I think clients requesting me are looking for an elegant and powerful design.
DI: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
NF : Hans Wegner, Frank Lloyd Wright, Saul · bus ,,, There is no break in the list. I like designs that form an elegant and harmonious worldview.
DI: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
NF : I do not remember. Because I have designed too many things.
DI: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
NF : It is water and metal. These textures and textures are often adopted even in my design.
