We, as the Designer Interviews ("DI") had the distinct pleasure and opportunity to interview award-winning, most creative and innovative Dimitrije Davidovic ("DD").
Dimitrije Davidovic is a designer from Serbia. He graduated at Art School in Nish, after which went to study at Belgrade Polytechnic on industrial design section. Dimitrije finds inspiration in the nature. He has a sophisticated design. He works for people, not for things. His design is creative and controversial. Dimitrije expresses his creativity through the design of industrial products and interiors. He also works with painting, drawing and doing as well as photography. In his free time, he is practicing water polo. He is studying martial arts as well as training them. It deals with organizing events, consulting and marketing. He occasionally holds lectures on design in Art school.

Designer Interview of Dimitrije Davidovic:
DI: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
DD : I come from an artistic family, most family members are engaged in art and design. I attended the Art School in Nis, the direction for interior and industrial design. After that I enter the Belgrade Polytechnic and the direction of product design. No, and now, at the moment I don’t know what I want to be.
DI: What is "design" for you?
DD : Design is art.
DI: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
DD : I like to design everything that can make peoples life better and easier.
DI: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
DD : My favorite design is Eclipse lamp. Its simple, modern and sculptural. Inspiration is eclipse of Sun. That lamp is full of energy.
DI: When do you feel the most creative?
DD : I like night. Night is miracle. And I am most creative when I dream.
DI: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
DD : I try to focus on all aspect. But on aesthetics and functionality most.
DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
DD : I am very proud when my design is realized.
DI: What makes a design successful?
DD : Good idea at first and than how long You work on idea to become design.
DI: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
DD : When you look at a man, you first see whether he is beautiful or not. It's so in the design.
DI: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
DD : It is a great responsibility to society. You make a man happy. He begins the day with you. He uses your design to be happy.
DI: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
DD : The future of design is in no design. When art reached its peak, it became not art.
DI: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?
DD : My last exhibition is currently held in Belgrade.
DI: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
DD : All my inspiration is in nature. Nature itself is an inspiration for all.
DI: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
DD : My main call is nature. I take what nature gives me and I turn it into design with stylization.
DI: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
DD : I live in Serbia. That Serbia and the environment have a big influence on my creation. It's my country full of nature and good people.
DI: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
DD : Companies should respect designers. One conversation with the designer will tell them everything about him.
DI: Can you talk a little about your design process?
DD : I'm starting to draw sketches. I'm switching to 3D modeling. After that, I make models, prototype and eventually finished product.
DI: Can you describe a day in your life?
DD : I get up early in the morning. I'm going to train. After that I sit and work, I design. I'm sleeping. And so on.
DI: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?
DD : Work on yourself every day. The more you can.
DI: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
DD : Every design is like a child. You are proud of him, but you are always trying to fix it.
DI: What is your "golden rule" in design?
DD : Golden ratio.
DI: What skills are most important for a designer?
DD : Imagination.
DI: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?
DD : You must have a plan. Plan your day.
DI: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?
DD : It depends of design project.
DI: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer?
DD : What is that?
DI: What are your future plans? What is next for you?
DD : To become best designer in my country.
DI: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?
DD : I work alone. Like wolf.
DI: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about?
DD : Yes. I design a lot. Lamp, fitness equipment etc.
