NRM Architects Office is a building design office founded in 1997 by architects Shunichiro Ninomiya and Morodome Tomoko. The foundation is Osaka in Japan. NRM Architects Office has over 20 years of career and various awards, but in Japan it is a minor and small design office. NRM Architects Office mainly designs houses, designs stores and offices. It features simple, functional and beautiful design. Especially, there is a feature in planning which effectively utilizes the courtyard.

DI: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?

SN : When I was a child I liked animation, in the future my dream was to become a manga artist.After that I became interested in the movie and got interested in the background of the production.In other words, I was interested in creative work.After that I learned about architecture and became an architect.

DI: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?

SN : Our design office "NRM Architects Office" is a building design office founded in 1997 by architect Shunichiro Ninomiya and Morodome Tomoko. The foundation is Osaka in Japan.NRM Architects Office has received more than 20 years of career and various awards, but in Japan it is a small design office.NRM Architects Office mainly design houses, design stores and offices.It features simple, functional and beautiful design.In particular, there is a planning function that effectively utilizes the courtyard.

DI: What is "design" for you?

SN : It's too difficult to understand.

DI: What kinds of works do you like designing most?

SN : Design and function are consistent.

DI: What was the first thing you designed for a company?

SN : It is a villa built in Wakayama, Japan.

DI: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?

SN : How to engage with humans.

DI: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?

SN : How to engage with humans.

DI: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?

SN : To become a property of society. Do not inconvenience the environment.

DI: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?

SN : The source of inspiration varies.

DI: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?

SN : My design is simple, functional, and beautiful.

DI: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?

SN : I live in Osaka, Japan.I think that the culture of my country has an influence on my design.

DI: What skills are most important for a designer?

SN : Life experience.

DI: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?

SN : DraftSight,SketchUp.

DI: Who are some of your clients?

SN : It is an individual or a company.

DI: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?

SN : It is pleasant to work 3D modeling using "SketchUp". Because you can grasp the imagined space quickly.

DI: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?

SN : I am designing myself.
