We, as the Designer Interviews ("DI") had the distinct pleasure and opportunity to interview award-winning, most creative and innovative KUAN YEN WU ("KYW").
CJ INTERIOR DESIGN CO.,LTD was established at Kaohsiung city, Taiwan, in 2010. Art reflects our life. Creativity always comes from what our life needs. DI: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
KYW : Since childhood, I was been interested in interior space and had developed design capabilities to become a professional interior designer.
DI: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
KYW : Hotels design
DI: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
KYW : I like Park Lees Hotel ,because it uses many different materials to combine .
DI: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
KYW : A residential case
DI: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
KYW : marble, veneer, titanium plating, coating.......
DI: When do you feel the most creative?
KYW : When the night is quiet
DI: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
KYW : Material combination and season
DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
KYW : I will be very excited.
DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
KYW : I will feel very fulfilled.
DI: What makes a design successful?
KYW : Patience, confidence and curiosity
DI: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
KYW : For the convenience of the user.
DI: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
KYW : Make life more convenient and better.Let the society improve the aesthetics
DI: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
KYW : By designing this work to enhance the concept and aesthetics of the public.
DI: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?
KYW : 2018 Building Materials Exhibition of Kaohsiung,Taiwan .
DI: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
KYW : Living around/Outbound tourism contacts different things.
DI: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
KYW : Tailored to the needs of the owner
DI: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
KYW : Taiwan/life environment and culture will be integrated into design materials and concepts/Taiwan is a country with many natural disasters. Many innovative concepts are not feasible.
DI: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?
KYW : Keep curiosity and do everything with your heart
DI: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
KYW : The adaptability and aesthetics of the construction site
DI: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?
KYW : AUTOCAD, Sketch up, 3D Max,PS, AI
DI: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?
KYW : Work out the next day before going to sleep every day.
DI: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?
KYW : According to this case, it takes one year.

KYW : Hotelier, Doctor, Merchant, Civilian Volkswagen

KYW : Hotel, because it must be widely considered to the public's habits
