I am father of 3 kids, who wish the better world for my kids through architecture and design. My company, JUTI architects provides design services covering full range of services from interior to architect design, from consultant service to construction management and from renovation design to medium scale urban planning. We also offer special service for project proposal which includes feasibility study, proposal and presentation material, and corporate identities branding e.g. graphic design, signage design, furniture design, and etc.

Designer Interview of ่Juti Klipbua:

DI: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?

K : I think "Lego" would be the one that make me love to build a Space or Building. Looking back, when I was a kid, My house is in the coal mining deep in the forest. All those mineral and bamboo forest landscape inspire me a lot too.

DI: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?

K : JUTI Architects views design as a finding solution to ideally combine artistic and aesthetic prospect to site, climate and culture in order to neatly serve the commercial prospect while deliver a sense of “Simplicity Elegance”. We provides design services covering full range of services from interior to architect design, from consultant service to construction management and from renovation design to medium scale urban planning. We also offer special service for project proposal which includes feasibility study, proposal and presentation material, and corporate identities branding e.g. graphic design, signage design, furniture design, and etc.

DI: What is "design" for you?

K : Seeking a better world both for human being and environment

DI: What kinds of works do you like designing most?

K : Public building, museum, library, etc.

DI: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?

K : Mary help of Christian Church, I am a Catholic and I've always wanted to design a church. So most impressive project is the first church I designed.

DI: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?

K : Concrete and steel

DI: When do you feel the most creative?

K : Traveling

DI: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?

K : To create a unique experience for user that contribute the building program.

DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?

K : Mixing of peaceful and exploring desires.

DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?

K : Mixing of pride and farewell to a close friend

DI: What makes a design successful?

K : soul and responsibility

DI: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?

K : being a open mind

DI: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?

K : We consume environment to create something that our ego consider "good" and leaving footprint that effect society to a history mark. So we must be careful and always warn our self before take an action. Playing god role of creating is easy, but to take human part that effected by each design in every day life is a must to always consider in designer mind.

DI: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?

K : I think design world is must closer than it use to be. That's make we all can challenge and contribution more in different field of design or profession.

DI: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?

K : still none

DI: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?

K : local art and craft.

DI: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?

K : local minimalist, simplicity elegant

DI: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?

K : Thailand, cultural heritage have a lot affect to my design. Both way of thinking, scale, and detail. I think local heritage mostly base on respect to the nature, which is must be reconsider in this global warming crisis recent.

DI: How do you work with companies?

K : Mostly start with asking question of what we want to achieve in that project. Then many hand sketch. Computer modeling then physical model.

DI: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?

K : be an open mind

DI: Can you talk a little about your design process?

K : sketch and develop and back to sketch...

DI: Can you describe a day in your life?

K : Common father and husband who also run architects firm.

DI: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?

K : Be patient and use hand sketch more.

DI: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?

K : Positive is you have ability to create.Negative is you "THINK" you have ability to create.

DI: What is your "golden rule" in design?

K : Think twice!!!

DI: What skills are most important for a designer?

K : Communication, both to other and to understand your self.

DI: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?

K : Pen, pencil, paper, and my memory or experience of place or detail from nature.

DI: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?

K : Not quite well...

DI: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?

K : For me as an architect, design take like 1-3 months. Construction took 8-18 month.

DI: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer?

K : Can you discount your fee?

DI: What was your most important job experience?

K : Must said being a father is changing my perspective to a life, a job, a college, and many more.

DI: Who are some of your clients?

K : Catholic church of Thailand, Vanessa cabaret group, Mingalabpar inter group, Teddy house, Viva development, etc.

DI: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?

K : Church, the process is somehow grow faith in your drying soul.

DI: What are your future plans? What is next for you?

K : Try to be more open to a new territory both client and marketing.

DI: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?

K : Both, depend on how clear of my vision to the project.

DI: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about?

K : We are designing resort in north of Myanmar, the local context is close but yet difference from Thailand. Its like go back in time, while we doing research and design develop.
