We, as the Designer Interviews ("DI") had the distinct pleasure and opportunity to interview award-winning, most creative and innovative Mohammadreza Eslamparast ("ME").
He is a graphic designer in Iran. He was born in 1977 in the north of Iran. He started his activity in this field in 2002 when he was a student. He currently works with companies as a lecturer, designer and packaging consultant. He has been an official member of the Iranian Graphic Designer's Society since 2011. In 2009, he set up his own studio in Tehran. It has won many awards in the packaging section "Basteha festival" in Iran, including the first place in the biennial of packaging in 2020 and 2022. His designs are generally modern and minimal. In most of his works, there is hand drawing, because of his ability to draw by hand, he often designs his own works and pays special attention to details.

Designer Interview of Mohammadreza Eslamparast:
DI: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
ME : From childhood I loved art and painting. When I became 14 I went to an art school and studied graphic designing and after that I went to the college and university and studied painting. After graduating I have started working up to now. It is about 23 years that I am working as a graphic designer mostly packaging. I used to work in other companies but for 15 years I have worked for myself.
DI: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
ME : I have my own studio and we are interested in branding and packaging design. We mostly design the packaging for food, cosmetic and medical products.
DI: What is "design" for you?
ME : From my point of view, because the world of design is limitless, every time we are following a new path to create beauty. It is touching the soul.
DI: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
ME : Every packaging I take order is a new challenge for me but I mostly interested in food packaging.
DI: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
ME : My favorite design is packaging design. I like illustrating design because I like doing and drawing my design by hand. After finalizing I do it by my computer.
DI: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
ME : I was a Date packaging. They were 3 kinds of Dates and The package was plastic.
DI: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
ME : My favorite material for packaging print is cardboard.
DI: When do you feel the most creative?
ME : When I was a student at university, I gave some prizes for designing creative stuff. my teachers pushed me to continue and be more and more creative. From that time I have focussed on creation.
DI: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
ME : Mostly I focus on the design idea and the composition. After that choosing the best colors, fonts and pictures.
DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
ME : I feel liveliness, excitation and creativity.
DI: What makes a design successful?
ME : A new idea, the implementation and awareness of the stuff the customers need and like.
DI: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
ME : the most important thing is that it should introduce the product of it in the best and more creative way.
