Designer Interview of Eleonora Venzaga:
DI: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
EV : In 2016 I completed my education as a graphic designer at IED (European Institute of Design) in Rome. Afterward, I started to work as a graphic designer since today, I live and work actually in Rome. I've always imagined myself as a successful designer, there's still a long way to go, I knew what I wanted to do and I tried to become one. Maybe if I hadn't embarked on this artistic career my other options were, to become a helicopter pilot and a neurosurgeon. But at the end of the day, I know I'm doing the best job in the world. Create.
DI: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
EV : My current studio is an international creative communication studio. They work with the major international companies in the financial, insurance, scientific, real estate, creative and artistic fields.
DI: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
EV : Mainly brand identity, following a project from birth to continuous evolution over time. I also love to devote myself to pure graphic design, typography, and illustration even if I am not an illustrator, but who knows in time could be another goal.
DI: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
EV : One of my favorite projects in particular, and also one of the most recent is the rebranding of Dropbox by Aaron Robbs and Nicholas Jitkoff. They managed to give contemporaneity to a brand that was more than 10 years old, with a well-defined identity, I do not deny that I would have liked to participate in this project. I think that they have been able to fully achieve their mission, that is, to inspire with creative energy the users who interface with this service.
DI: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
EV : I can say paper! I believe that the final printed effect really gives satisfaction, even if the world of paper is dying out, but still resists. And certainly, the technologies I prefer are those that I allow you to design.
DI: When do you feel the most creative?
EV : It seems strange as an answer, but my creativity when I'm under stress and have a short-term delivery prevails over me and I can't contain it.
DI: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
EV : The uniqueness of the idea, and the durability over time. I think that every project must be unique in its idea.
DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
EV : Sono emozioni indescrivibili, a volte è ansia, a volte è felicità, a volte è paura di fallire, ma poi arriva anche la soddisfazione.
DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
EV : Satisfaction, feeling fulfilled, and ready to start a new project!
DI: What makes a design successful?
EV : Of course the idea, and the realization. A project conceived and with a strong identity will always be successful compared to others. The aesthetic aspect is our showcase to stop people is already a success, giving them a reason to get passionate is the other.
DI: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
EV : communicative immediacy, creativity, final execution, and simplicity.
DI: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
EV : As a designer, we have the task of disseminating information, the important thing is how to disseminate it, and that it is clear to everyone.
DI: Can you talk a little about your design process?
EV : My starting point is the analysis, of the context of the project, and then a thorough search for what is needed at that time and what needs to be communicated, and then proceed to the final execution.
DI: Can you describe a day in your life?
EV : There is one thing that unites all the days of my life, a great breakfast, we all need to charge.
DI: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?
EV : Thinking of doing a useful job for society is already a big step, doing this work seriously and not underestimate the artistic and creative environment. It is a world that will never disappear and we have the task of taking care of it.
DI: What is your "golden rule" in design?
EV : Always keep the white and space in my drawings.
DI: What are your future plans? What is next for you?
EV : I hope to continue to grow professionally and to improve. And I hope to work all over the world and then return to my country and spread new ideas.
DI: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about?
EV : Something special is always coming
DI: How can people contact you?
