DI: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?

HM : Yes, I have loved painting and art since my childhood, and I chose to major in art design in university.

DI: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?

HM : BUFAN was founded in 2011. Have done different design works, architectural animation, architectural appearance, interior design, Visual Identity, landscape design.

DI: What is "design" for you?

HM : Good question, "design" is a kind of life attitude, "design" is to serve people, it makes our life better.

DI: What kinds of works do you like designing most?

HM : Like works with depth.

DI: What was the first thing you designed for a company?

HM : Company logo.

DI: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?

HM : User experience.

DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?

HM : Challenge and satisfaction.

DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?

HM : A sense of achievement.

DI: What makes a design successful?

HM : Inspiration, work hard.

DI: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?

HM : User experience.

DI: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?

HM : To lead and serve humanity in a better life tomorrow.

DI: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?

HM : The future of design is based on the core principle of people-oriented, scientific, personalized, green ecological sustainable development trend.

DI: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?

HM : In kunming, China, in 2007. There are no plans for another time.

DI: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?

HM : Design inspiration comes from many sources: music, movies, paintings, dreams, etc.

DI: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?

HM : I don't like to limit myself to one style, I like to try different styles of design.

DI: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?

HM : I live in kunming, China, and I love my country and culture. Chinese culture is so profound that I can find many design inspirations from it.

DI: Can you talk a little about your design process?

HM : Communicate with the customer what he needs, find his real needs, most customers do not know what their real needs are。 Strike a balance between practicality and aesthetics.

DI: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?

HM : Don't give up on your dreams.

DI: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?

HM : The pursuit of perfection, let oneself live very tired.

DI: What is your "golden rule" in design?

HM : A heart of inquiry and inquiry.

HM : Communication skills.

HM : Frequent use of CAD,3D MAX,PS,Illustrator。

HM : Manage your life and be proactive about your future work.

DI: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?

HM : There is no fixed time, about 7-15 days on average,Some take even longer.

HM : Worked as an animator.

HM : No one in particular, like challenging work.
