Designer Interview of WATARU OMAMEUDA:

DI: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?

WO : My father aspired to be an architect. As I continued along that path since my student days, I naturally aspired to become a designer.

DI: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?

WO : We are a design consulting company that proposes homes, spaces, and town development that can be differentiated from others, with community = "connection" between people as a key factor. As a professional group of planning, real estate, and design, we will realize the diversifying needs of society and clients by producing and practicing from planning to operation in total.

DI: What is "design" for you?

WO : Something that stands quietly in the background, like background music, that doesn't disturb someone's music.

DI: What kinds of works do you like designing most?

WO : Something pure, free from arbitrary things, as if it had always been there.

DI: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?

WO : Like second-hand clothes, things that retain their quality even after the passage of time.

DI: What was the first thing you designed for a company?

WO : Satoyama Village

DI: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?

WO : It's not something that goes out of fashion, but something that feels like it's always been there.

DI: When do you feel the most creative?

WO : always, even now

DI: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?

WO : It is necessary to separate large designs and small designs, and both are necessary.

DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?

WO : Excited, excited, nervous...
