DI: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?

WH : My journey from learning painting in my youth to specializing in interior design represents a transition from two-dimensional art to spatial creation. The endless pursuit of designing spaces that evoke diverse emotional resonances has become both my joy and motivation as a designer. Yes, my dream is to become a designer.

DI: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?

WH : Our studio aspires to take on diverse spatial projects and refuses to be pigeonholed into any specific design category.

DI: What is "design" for you?

WH : Design addresses genuine needs while creating emotional resonance to elevate the spiritual value of space.

DI: What kinds of works do you like designing most?

WH : The design pursues a balance between functionality and aesthetics, with spatial narratives that evoke meaning.

DI: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?

WH : I.M. Pei employed geometric precision and masterful light manipulation to create architecture that not only dialogues with history but also redefines the relationship between art and humanity through innovative use of space, materials, and illumination.

DI: What was the first thing you designed for a company?

WH : A chair not meant for sitting

WH : Functional rationality comes first, followed by its capacity to evoke appropriate emotions

DI: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?

WH : We emphasize integrating indigenous craftsmanship with contemporary design, transforming reclaimed materials into sustainable art.

DI: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?

WH : Emerging technologies and materials are driving design evolution, with future tech-digital art fusion reshaping the creation and impact of immersive spaces.

DI: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?

WH : Based in Shenzhen since 2018, we're seeking suitable opportunities to host an exhibition this year.

DI: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?

WH : Immerse in painting, sculpture, film, and beyond—constantly seeking works that challenge my imagination.

DI: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?

WH : I aspire not for a conspicuously distinctive design style, but rather for an approach that authentically embodies each project while evoking profound emotional resonance.

DI: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?

WH : Shenzhen, though not long steeped in China's ancient cultural timeline, benefits from the nation's vast multi-ethnic heritage that provides abundant design inspiration. The city's concentrated focus on design development, however, remains a relatively recent phenomenon.

DI: How do you work with companies?

WH : We welcome collaborations on challenging projects.

DI: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?

WH : Grant designers greater creative freedom.

DI: Can you talk a little about your design process?

WH : Listen, decode, and gather design inspiration—transforming needs into orderly yet vibrant spatial narratives through design.
