We, as the Designer Interviews ("DI") had the distinct pleasure and opportunity to interview award-winning, most creative and innovative Leyla Canbaz Gundem ("LCG").

She is as a trend setter.Stylist ,She has a sharp eyes .She is cool and self confident,always happy personalty.When she was child .her dream was become a designer,she studied business instead of studing design. Her family company were producing shoes and sandals .That was the reason she always visit italy Micam and Garda shoes fairs ,after all she has been worked 7 years in family company ,after all she wants to do her own business and she imports and sell fashion brand in istanbul .She marketed their brand to high -end department stores (harvey Nichols etc )she loves colors ,design .she participate NY ,rio fashion shows to get new brands.after 7 years she wants to design .create their design and she decided to study interior design school ABOUT ME She is an interior designer. She has long cared deeply about design :''I think I wanted to be an interior designer when I was thirteen.' IN HOME Gundem,' for the first time ,reveais her passion for home design and style.She believes ''You don't have to have money to have good taste,''and she is eager to share what she has learned over the years. DI: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?

LCG : When I was child.I am good at paintng.I always design my house and friends house .

DI: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?

LCG : I just graduated interior design school .I open my design studio recently,

DI: What kinds of works do you like designing most?

LCG : Furniture ,bookshelf .

DI: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?

LCG : i design coffe cup .I like drinking turkish coffee .I designed turkısh coffee cup.

DI: What was the first thing you designed for a company?

LCG : Must be unique ,trendy and functional,timeless.

DI: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?

LCG : Brass and copper .both are pure and natural.

DI: When do you feel the most creative?

LCG : on holiday.

DI: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?

LCG : Golden ratio.

DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?

LCG : Very happy .

LCG : To be unique.

DI: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?

LCG : to be interesting ,cool and elegant.to be chic.bad thing is ,cheap looking.

DI: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?

LCG : save enviorment.sustainability.

DI: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?

LCG : sustainability .

DI: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?

LCG : From Montreal .Canada. colors from nature .Autumn leaves.shape of design from Mondrian painting.

DI: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?

LCG : Less is Cool and great.Elegant,timeless.

DI: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?

LCG : Istanbul, not realy it is universal as named. 4 seasons love.

DI: How do you work with companies?

LCG : Sell design and comission from the sales revenue.

DI: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?

LCG : Good designer has own style.They have to figure out their style and find out right matches.

DI: Can you talk a little about your design process?

LCG : Hand sketching and coloring ,research trendy materials.

DI: What are 5 of your favorite design items at home?

LCG : painting,sculpters,coffee tables ,lighting.sofas.

DI: Can you describe a day in your life?

LCG : early wake up,work out.organize house and office work and manage them,meet with friends,family dinner ,listening music.not late goto bed.

DI: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?

LCG : travel alot ,see many cultures.visit fairs abot design.

DI: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?

LCG : it is very good to create new things ,

DI: What is your "golden rule" in design?

LCG : less is cool.respect golden ratio .

DI: What skills are most important for a designer?

LCG : sharp eyes.to be vizyoner.

DI: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?

LCG : hand sketching,pencil ,color pencils,,autocad ,3dmax,internet ,

DI: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?

LCG : it is very easy for me no need too much time.

DI: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?

LCG : very short ,sometimes 1 hour .complation 1 week.

DI: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?

LCG : design furniture .

DI: What are your future plans? What is next for you?

LCG : design furniture or object and sell them.

DI: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about?

LCG : I am designing coffee cup .I worked with grape ball pieces ,
