We, as the Designer Interviews ("DI") had the distinct pleasure and opportunity to interview award-winning, most creative and innovative Lara Wilkin ("LW").
Lara Wilkin born in Gladbeck, Nordrhein-Westfalen (NRW) is a Graphic Designer, Illustrator and Scenographer from Germany who is specialized and focused on profounded and social Illustrations and Vector Illustrations full of details. She got the Bachelor of Arts in “Design-Media-Communikation“ and the Master of Arts at the subject area of “Scenography and Communication“ at the University of Applied Science and Arts - Fachhochschule Dortmund. Information graphics are also a great area of interest for Ms. Wilkin. She likes to take the viewer of their work on a journey, provocative trips, insightful and informative trips - trips into the details.

DI: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
LW : Since I can think I love to create things in all kinds

LW : Design is a reasoned creation that makes sense and influences life

LW : My favorite design is the creation of life and the wonders we experience every day

LW : Illustration

LW : Designers influence people of all ages, it is our duty to shape responsibly and future-oriented
DI: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
LW : Design will make life easier and more thought-provoking.It will give Designers who create with heart and mind and others who are dedicated to money even to the bad things.It always has been, it will be in the future, but now we reach every day more and more people.
DI: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
LW : Attention to detail

LW : Productive
DI: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
LW : Good designers are original and take the time they need. They represent their point of view and wants the best for the target group and not for the preference of the favorite color of the company boss - unless it is the company color ...
DI: Can you talk a little about your design process?
LW : do research, conceptualize, create and discard and work on it until it convinces

LW : White paper sheet, pencil, pen, comfortable seating, PC
DI: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
LW : The white paper!

LW : Think different.
DI: What skills are most important for a designer?
LW : Empathy and criticism.
DI: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?
LW : With a good old paper timer.
DI: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?
LW : It took the time it needs.
DI: What was your most important job experience?
LW : Every experience is important!
DI: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?
LW : I'm a one woman show, but I also cooperate with agencies!
