We, as the Designer Interviews ("DI") had the distinct pleasure and opportunity to interview award-winning, most creative and innovative Manel Besolí ("MB").
They are a team of designers and entrepreneurs who performs each their designs to captivate and seduce, making each design in an attractive piece of furniture that is not lost, their products are retailers, functional, innovative and above all: attractive. Be&Bo was born from the desire to do items that are daily, with an aesthetically innovative approach, furniture and objects that allow live and create perfectly matched environments.

Designer Interview of Manel Besolí:
DI: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
MB : My background is the result of the need to improve the objects that we can find in the day, at home at work, in the park, in the bar at the supermarket etc ... The need to know how this is done all the objects that we are both technically and materially. I been trying to get make objects that have meaning for me initially, rather more important for the public to whom they are addressed, which are the main objectives of good design: Consistent with all its details. For all these reasons I became a designer. In the mid-90s, after finishing the race electrical specialist, and may enter the race Technical Architecture, I decided to enter the design school LAI
DI: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
MB : My company makes design projects, we are a team of designers who performs each their designs to captivate and seduce, making each design furniture in an attractive piece that tries not remain indifferent, our products are retailers, functional, innovative and above all: Attractive
DI: What is "design" for you?
MB : The design is the sum of aesthetics, usability, functionality, innovation, meaning that over time have not perish.
DI: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
MB : I like all kinds works, from chairs, armchairs, toilets, computers, speakers, lamps. Designers such as Ron Arad, Starck, Jonathan Ive, Dieter Rams, Ingo Maurer, Patricia Urquiola, Naoto Fukasawa.
DI: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
MB : My favorite design is the chair Large Papilio, comfortable, attractive and impeccably performed from within until his last layer versatility of model size.
DI: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
MB : My first design as a professional, was a hotel reception with the same type of hotel room, it was designed in team, technical and constructive part of the design elements.
DI: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
MB : My favorite material is wood molding and its warmth. Although I must say that I would try rigid polyethylene injection, but its high initial price, it is a barrier for a start.
DI: When do you feel the most creative?
MB : When a flash on a good idea, continuing to creative touches giving out a design with the question of whether it will be a good design.
DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
MB : The emotions I feel are of happiness and freedom to do what I like, feeling privileged.
DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
MB : The unstoppable to reach the desired results and do not let me doubt that the product is good design, responsibility arrives to work everything correctly will.
DI: What makes a design successful?
MB : If you meet just two of the many expectations of good design, appearance, utility. He who makes a successful design is the marketing and distribution campaign is the key to a successful design, market demand and whether aspects of need and desire for the consumer not occur do not produce successful design.
DI: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
MB : The first thing to consider, in good design is its appearance, good design has to impress in the first glances, then come the more exahustivos analysis
DI: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
MB : The responsibility of a designer is to investigate to every detail so that the result of their products are the most friendly to our environment and does not involve a reversal.
DI: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?
MB : Recently we work items to detail. It would be interesting to take to reach expose or open a show room for the public to see our creations.
DI: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
MB : Our aspirations are on functionality and creativity that gave the architects of the first half of the twentieth century giving it a contemporary feel. I find inspiration in travel, magazines, books, new applications that technology has placed at our disposal (pinterst, instagram, etc ...)
DI: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
MB : We are in Barcelona, is an inspiring city full of history as the country where we are.
DI: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
MB : Companies to make good products with good designers need to interact and create synergies, thus produce better products, if I had to choose a good designer would look best design contests product or promote a competitive selection.
DI: Can you talk a little about your design process?
MB : Imagine, reconsider, raise draw, exposing my partners and colleagues, virtualize, detail, meet with industry that is going to transform the initial drawing into a product.

DI: Can you describe a day in your life?
MB : Arriving to get to the office, I check the emails of suppliers and customers, as priorities for the project phase we're doing, I continue drawing, planning technical details or meeting with the industry that is running a construction process, either machining painted or workmanship of the product we are doing. We plan the timings of the products we have to serve process realize this attempt Monday at noon. With Mercè B. we gather to see the progress of the designs and manufacturers who are working some phase of the project. We eat and continue with what we were, drawing, posing, assembling or mediating with customers or suppliers.
DI: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?
MB : Libretto by sketches, ipad app penultimate, Safari, Autocad, 3ds max, Indesign, Photoshop, blogs current design,
DI: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?
MB : Before giving by good design, I have to leave a reasonable period of time daily observation and my perception is the same, so design 3 weeks, 4 security and prototype manufacturing.
DI: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?
MB : In the initial phase of product design, my job is alone, after the initial phase of the creative process we define the details and finishes with all design team.
DI: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about?
MB : We are in the process of realization of prototype portable lamp and will be included in a collection of lighting products, on table, suspension and apply.
