DI: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?

JDK&RW : We are design graphic's agency. For more than 8 years, we have dedicated to make design to create a better world. We tries hard to represent as impressive design to customers.

DI: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?

JDK&RW : PT Elemen Sukses Mandiri is a Jakarta-based creative branding and design company. DI: What is "design" for you?

JDK&RW : design is making a future, enlighten people, creating harmonious, helping people to sell their product

DI: What kinds of works do you like designing most?

JDK&RW : feng shui logo, it's about business, art, and fengshui.

DI: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?

JDK&RW : i love to draw a book that can used to enlighten people. We do research and also design.

DI: What was the first thing you designed for a company?

JDK&RW : Optimalize research for our client's company

DI: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?

JDK&RW : systemized

DI: When do you feel the most creative?

JDK&RW : When we goes to brainstorming

DI: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?

JDK&RW : Feng Shui, a study comprehensive to improve their logo's value.

DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?

JDK&RW : I think we gave it all out. All of our emotion can be seen in every our design

DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?

JDK&RW : satisfied. We tried hard to make a masterpiece.

DI: What makes a design successful?

JDK&RW : can solve people's problem

DI: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?

JDK&RW : We help people to be healthy, just like a CSR that our company did every 3-4 months to help people in orphanage (disability: hydrocephalus disease) I think everyone has the right to enjoy life also we help United Nation Volunteer's design for Ghana, France, etc

DI: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?

JDK&RW : Design is our future. We create future to make a better world.

DI: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?

JDK&RW : Yes, my last exhibition is February 2015 in Gramedia, Surabaya. Our next exhibition is March 12-15th in Jakarta Convention Center, this event held by Mandiri Bank, we also join as a speaker in this event.

DI: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?

JDK&RW : God is our inspiration

DI: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?

JDK&RW : i love to create layout design. Especially to explore something new and extraordinary design but makes our client impressed.

DI: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?

DI: How do you work with companies?

JDK&RW : we work not just as a partner but also like a family

DI: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?

JDK&RW : select their attitude first, skill can be improve later

DI: Can you talk a little about your design process?

JDK&RW : research, create brand names, brainstorming, sketch, using computer

DI: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?

DI: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?

JDK&RW : + i have my own design world. I can create anything - very excited, sometime i forget to eat :D

DI: What is your "golden rule" in design?

JDK&RW : Create a masterpiece!

DI: What skills are most important for a designer?

JDK&RW : thirst for knowledge

DI: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?

JDK&RW : adobe illustrator, photoshop,

DI: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?

JDK&RW : we have manage our time in our daily schedule

DI: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?

JDK&RW : depend of the job, for example to create 1 page final layout about 3-6 hours

DI: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer?

JDK&RW : My clients almost ask to us: can you create our brand better? You can do whatever you like..

DI: What was your most important job experience?

JDK&RW : work from zero. I learn from nothing to be a something..

DI: Who are some of your clients?

JDK&RW : our client class: B+ to A. some company like yamaha distributor (>100 branch), public listed company like martha tilaar, plane, mining, contractor, developer, etc

DI: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?

JDK&RW : layout, you can experiment anything
