We, as the Designer Interviews ("DI") had the distinct pleasure and opportunity to interview award-winning, most creative and innovative Suliman Innab ("SI").
Design lover. A successful and talented creative director with extensive experience in design methodologies and conceptual thinking, based on the architectural background covering fields like architectural design, interior design, furniture, and branding design. A principal architect, passionate about design in general, and details in specific, reflected in many accomplished interior projects and some customized pieces for some spaces. A design lecturer in different Jordanian Universities. Participated in several Juries, and graduation projects discussions. Participated in different international exhibitions like Milan Design Week 2015, Design Junction London 2015, and Design Junction New York.

Designer Interview of Suliman Innab:
DI: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
SI : I have been in the design industry since 18 years, with a big diversity of design services, starting with media and graphic design, and because of my architectural background and passion to design in general and details in specific I started to work on a several interior projects, then architectural projects, and my interest started with furniture design and production in 2015.
DI: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
SI : MORPHX DESIGN STUDIO provides a wide range of design services; DESIGN is our passion,our mission, and the REAL service we provide. For different segments and different scales we excel. We upload the principles of excellent design standards and combine them with creative and innovative ideas to come up with a unique style that inspire others.Our attention to fine details is the key of our success, the key of making our work LIVABLE ART, and a functionally and aesthetically pleasing masterpiece.
DI: What is "design" for you?
SI : Design is a challenge, and for me is a passion and how to be involved in creating something new and unique overtime you want to design.
DI: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
SI : I like to work more recently on furniture design, and details.
DI: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
SI : A new recent interior apartment. A unique open 250 sqm space. simple yet detailed. Unified materials of wood surfaces and hard surfaces of big slabs tile. Unique pieces of furniture made specially for the space.
DI: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
SI : A big chandilier light in a middle of double volume.
DI: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
SI : I like to work more with metal.
DI: When do you feel the most creative?
SI : When the project is so specific and challenging.
DI: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
SI : Proportions and stability.
DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
SI : Relaxed and happy.
DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
SI : Proud and happy.
DI: What makes a design successful?
SI : functionality and Innovation
DI: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
SI : The lines shaping the product is the most important, its balance and proportion, and of course the function is so crucial, is it working easily is it functional. So function and design first then we can look into materials and details.
DI: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?

DI: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
SI : The source and inspiration could be from anywhere, from the project itself, materials around, or/and the context.
DI: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
SI : I live in a city called Amman, the capital of JORDAN which is my country, a middle eastern country. I believed the day I have graduated that I have to continue and build my career in my own country, to be in a way influential in design industry, in the academic or the professional level. I loved to be part of design workshops, mentorships, college design courses, and some universities design juries. I believed that would introduce some awareness for the new generations of design in our culture.
DI: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
SI : Designer should be talented and responsible. Creative and innovative.
DI: Can you talk a little about your design process?
SI : My priority in any design to start with is the story and the Concept behind the design, and then how to reflect that into a good Function, which is for me the most important part, then jump into materials, which could be related to the concept itself.I like the digital tools in a way since they are the tools at the end to show the project, but basically I like to start sketching and hand drawing and details before reach that and doing mock-up if needed in that stage.
DI: What are 5 of your favorite design items at home?
SI : Chairs, lights, and coffee tables,
DI: Can you describe a day in your life?
SI : Always starting the day early is the best thing with a cup of coffee. Trying to follow the guys at the office for any updates and new decisions to take in design. Checking later some running sites under construction and seeing the product coming closer to the end is making me happy.For a relaxing evening checking some design news and exploring what new is somehow pleasant.
DI: What is your "golden rule" in design?
SI : Keep trying
DI: What skills are most important for a designer?
SI : His eyes and hands
DI: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?
SI : I start my design by sketching and hand drawing.
DI: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?
SI : I put some deadlines for the concept stages and try to focus on.
DI: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?
SI : The concept stage is the most important, if you pass it for me its done.
DI: What was your most important job experience?
SI : the most in my experience is working on a diversity of design, from architecture, to interior, and ending with furniture design.
DI: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?
SI : lately doing details and furniture
DI: What are your future plans? What is next for you?
SI : To have a furniture brand
DI: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?
SI : I have a team and we all work together.
