DI: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
JG : I have always wanted to become an artist when I was little and always was fascinated by my mother's jewellery, so with all the right influences and achievement in life I chose to become a jewellery designer.
DI: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
JG : I recently setup my designer brand in London, focusing on Luxury and high net-worth clients. Most designs start off as bespoke orders and later on develop further in the signature inovative collections
DI: What is "design" for you?
JG : Design means, constant innovation and evolution. Consistency of quality and functionality that surprises and satisfies customers.
DI: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
JG : Earrings and rings
DI: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
JG : Royal Faberge Eggs. These were and still are the most complicated and innovative jewel craft art objects. They have always inspire me to challenge in techniques and be perfect in details. They have also taught me that sentimental value is the most important when designing a piece of jewellery, the inner message must be well delivered with its aesthetics.
DI: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
JG : A pair of Shoulder piece jewellery
DI: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
JG : Emeralds.
DI: When do you feel the most creative?
JG : Listening to others' love stories.
DI: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
JG : Delivering it sentimental value through my design.
DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
JG : Profoundly attach with the emotion behind the creation.
DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
JG : Peaceful.
DI: What makes a design successful?
JG : Client's smile.
DI: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
JG : Aesthetically and technically.
DI: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
JG : Create value and happiness through ethical and moral process.
DI: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
JG : Love stories and details of each story.
DI: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
JG : Jewellery Engineering, transformable luxury jewellery.
DI: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
JG : London. A city of best heritage resered and set with most innovations.
DI: How do you work with companies?
JG : Artistic Collaborations.
DI: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
JG : See if a designer have the big picture in their mind rather than focusing on an amazing creation. Their ability and adaptability to change and expand their skill and product range.
DI: Can you talk a little about your design process?
JG : Creative initiation, direction and management.
DI: What are 5 of your favorite design items at home?
JG : My son, God's best creation. Car, iphone and light bulb, human's best creation. Our wedding bands designed with my wife - Marriage is a promise made to God between the two.
DI: Can you describe a day in your life?
JG : 5am My 9 months old son wakes up, play with him 1 hour. 6am Put him back to sleep with mum, head off to the Gym. 8am-5pm Work 6pm dinner
DI: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?
JG : Think out of the box, don't become a designers stuck in a room. Go see the world, the more you see the more creative you are! Learn to borrow brilliance and make them even better.
DI: What is your "golden rule" in design?
JG : Think outside the box, get out of the room.
DI: What skills are most important for a designer?
JG : Adaptability.
DI: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?
JG : Pen, paper and emails.
DI: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?
JG : Find the most skillful people, lead them.
DI: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?
JG : Average 3 Months
