TienyuWU is an architect and interior Designer in Taiwan. He experienced and researched the methods of BIM in Interactive lab by Taysheng jeng in National Cheng Kung University. Also, he created TYarchistudio and worked on various projects striving to turn on the switch of design possibilities and open the boundaries of creativity in Architecture. He tends to design anything with natural materials, and really caring the details of projects.

Designer Interview of Jianhe Wu:

DI: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?

JW : I am an architectural student since University, before entered the university, I practiced sketch and paintings in my life. I still remember that I read a book when I was 16 in Kaohsiung Art Museum, the book was "How to be an architect", I was so excited when I read that book, The book described how architect believes their design, and how did they try to made the construction better (even they have to build a brick wall by themselves!). I decided study design and architecture in that time, and I am trying to become a great designer and architect day by day.

DI: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?

JW : We provide design consult for re-build the house & apartment, and business store. Not only design and plan the future, but also reduce your cost for the New spaces. We are a design company of Architecture, interior design and Business space design. Design the architectural and interior spaces with honesty, sincerity, integrity and dignity for our clients. We tend to Use natural material and non-decoration methods to design the spaces. Creating the buildings and spaces for our design projects and clients.

DI: What is "design" for you?

JW : Design is an art to solve client's wants. We need to combine and mix all we believed and loves, and transform this art to present to our clients.

DI: What kinds of works do you like designing most?

JW : I designed variety of works. But I prefer to make interest things like special art of house, or a outstanding store to make people enjoy.

DI: What was the first thing you designed for a company?

JW : I designed a beverage store for a tiny company, but they loved it, and I enjoy the process.

DI: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?

JW : I tend to use wood and iron to mix some stable and comfortable atmosphere. And I use BIM(Building Information Modeling) to generate my design.

DI: When do you feel the most creative?

JW : I always tend to travel around the world, whenever I entered some modern museum of art, I can feel lots of design energy there.

DI: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?

JW : I prefer think the requirements of clients, and search their possibilities of design.

DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?

JW : I always design the project around the site, my emotions goes with the site.

DI: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?

JW : The projects could be explained by clients, I feel calm but relax when they started to use it, and keep the best status to make the building or house better.

DI: What makes a design successful?

JW : The soul of designer, the believes of the client's.

DI: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?

JW : Does the designer really care about the user?

DI: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?

JW : A designer need to know they are the beauty and art's representation of the architecture or interior design. Therefore, they really need to know how to make these worlds better by their design.
