Designer Interview of Shanghai Banfen Space Design Co., Ltd.:

DI: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?

SBSDCL : Due to my love for art, I chose to major in design by chance and deeply love and enjoy the process of design. Artists are far from it. What I want to do is stick to my love and keep improving.

DI: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?

SBSDCL : The company's main indoor hard installation, soft installation integration projects, and actively transfer valuable information, works and views. The enterprise takes "dedication, happiness, mutual assistance" as the working principle, takes the enterprise brand as the platform, takes the high quality and efficient design work as the main line, bases on the real estate sales building, the club, the model room, the batch fine decoration, the public area standardization system research and development, the design and the service. At the same time, in the boutique hotel, private clubs and residential, corporate office, public projects, product design, exhibition design and multimedia design and other fields are presented.

DI: What is "design" for you?

SBSDCL : Design is a visual language that is intended to delight and resonate with those who see it.

DI: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?

SBSDCL : The design I like is to let the experiencer feel the emotion that the designer wants to express when making the design, and to communicate with people through the works.

DI: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?

SBSDCL : Considering the needs and emotions of users, good design is able to create the right atmosphere in different environments, there is no best only more appropriate.

DI: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?

SBSDCL : No matter who is responsible for the environment, designers, a special industry, are closer to the construction industry such as architecture and decoration than people. We should not take profit as the only goal of success, but should pay more attention to the contribution to society and the environment.

DI: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?

SBSDCL : The development of the design field is the horizontal line of people's collective aesthetic constantly improved, the design field gradually spread to every corner of life; The future of design is the era of universal design and the era of cross-field comprehensive design.

DI: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?

SBSDCL : I live in suzhou, jiangsu province, China. Our country has a long history, of course, there will also be a lot of cultural heritage. Such as suzhou gardens, such as zen tea ceremony, and rich Chinese characteristics of the ancient architecture... Their common feature is that in this field, there are different elephants representing different meanings. For example, in suzhou gardens, water symbolizes wealth, and in the tea ceremony, purple sand golden toad symbolizes wealth. In ancient Chinese buildings, lions and auspicious beasts are carved on the ridge to symbolize wealth and wealth. Just this is the same with the design, each element is like the language in the design, so we have inherited the ancient design through osmosis, a set of mature techniques is beneficial to our design, no one knows us better than us; However, as The Times are changing and the market is expanding, it is obvious that this routine cannot satisfy everyone's aesthetic and needs. So we need to keep pace with The Times and not be bound by tradition.
